The Rise of Padel in 2025 | Why is padel so popular now?

Why is Padel so popular now?

Padel has risen by 600% in the past 4 years, according the the LTA.

In London, estimates are higher, with over 20 new Padel locations being built in the past 4 years. This growth has been somewhat unexpected, and overall it seems like the UK is catching up with the rest of Europe, when it comes to Padel.

The reason Padel has grown so much, is due to its accessibility. It typically requires less running than tennis, as its a much smaller court. Also, the Padel bats make it easier to hit the ball, compared to a Tennis racquet.

Here are some reasons why Why Padel is so popular now in the UK

Easy to hit the ball Its easier to use a Padel Bat, than a Tennis racquet, because of the material. A Padel Bat is plastic and compressed foam, so the ball bounces more easily off the bat
Less strenuous exercise The Padel court is much smaller than a Tennis court. This means less running. The Padel court is 20 meters long and 10 meters wide, but the Tennis court is 23.77 metres long, and 10.97 meters wide.
Padel Courts have Walls Padel courts have "walls" meaning that the ball will bounce back during a game. This is part of the sport, and means the ball is always within reach. It makes the game faster to play, and easier.
Its great for urban areas and cities Padel courts do not take up much space in a city, meaning that it can be used more often than tennis courts. It also requires little upkeep, as it is not played on grass.
Padel is more sociable Padel is more sociable because its mostly played as doubles, meaning that 4 people are on the court. Also, as its a small court, you can talk to everyone.

Where can I play Padel?

Even better, in our organised Padel sessions, we make sure you're playing with people of the same ability. Recently, as of 2025, we've started running sessions in south west London, such as Wandsworth Padel Sessions  - all abilities are welcome!
